Randal Long founded SME Development Associates as a vehicle to deliver value to owners of Small and Medium Enterprises.

Over more than a quarter century of successful and enjoyable experience in providing direct support to owners of individual- or family-owned businesses, from startup operations through mature companies seeking profitable growth, Randal consulted with owners and their team members, delivering expertise and assistance in business management systems, processes, training practices, and marketing tools.

Prior to founding SME Development Associates, Randal was a corporate staff member at Franchise Services, Inc./Sir Speedy, Inc. for 27 years, most recently serving as Vice President and Chief International Development Officer.

Randal is a trusted advisor to his clients, with a clear focus on assisting them in all aspects of building increased and sustained value and valuation through enhanced planning, organizing, direction, and control of their business performance.

Randal’s clients range from just starting to leaders among their peers, with annual sales volumes from a few hundred thousand to $6 Million.

A lifetime of involvement in small business operations - from his first job sweeping floors and stocking shelves in the family hardware store, through a variety of product and service selling organizations – several of them multi-location operations – to an international development and support senior executive role - underlies Randal’s passion for client successful growth.

Randal guides his clients through discovery, confirmation, validation and risk-minimization; Randal offers business decision support. Well-considered and planned business decisons provide clients with a foundation for optimum approach to an international expansion objective, and a competitive edge that enhances probability of successful market entry.

Executive Credits and Education

Appointed in 2010 by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to his third term as a member of the District Export Council, Randal is currently Chairman of the DEC’s Outreach and Publicity Committee. Randal continually engages in advancing his knowledge of opportunities and best practices, expands his contacts and relationships in the international trade community, studies trends, and attends or participates in events that offer up-to-date information.

Randal serves on the Advisory Board for new International Business and Global Entrepreneur programs at Rancho Santiago Community College District and Santa Ana College, and is a member of the adjunct faculty at SAC.
